Telecommunications

We made the best of a rainy day and visited the Radome, home of the gigantic device that first sent a live tv signal from Europe to the USA.

Eos, farmer's market, and the beach

Our gite is amazing and comes with Eos, a miniature horse that the kids adore.
 Celtic crosses were Christianized.

The crustaceans still are moving at the farmer's market.
We are agog at the colours of the water and the pink granite coast and the vegetation.
Adlai and Kaya find numerous snails.

I ventured for a walk that, naturally, led me through a corn field.

Mont St Michel and Perros Guirec

I have always been taken with the images of Mont St. Michel rising from the sea and we detoured on our long drive to the Brittany coast to the lower edge of Normandy just to see it briefly.

Gallo roman ruins at Thesee

The sidewalks are so narrow I had to watch that the large trucks did not sideswipe me as I crossed the bridge to take this shot of the old advertisement on the side of a house.
We found the gallo roman ruins at Thesee and marveled at the strength of walls that have stood for two thousand years.
The eerie attic is like something out of a novel.
Yet again, to our amusement, the GPS leads us astray.

Kaya stands next to one of the remaining walls that used to encircle St. Aignan.

Sit in in Loches

My son finally plunked down on the church steps and refused to enter yet another "castle." My stalwart husband spoke to him while I photographed the arches. We made our way to the dungeons afterwards.

A huge thunderstorm blew in across the countryside and drenched us to the skin.

At home, we enjoyed some wine and took in the view from our louvered windows onto the courtyard.

Le Clos Luce

I spent some time in Leonardo da Vinci's last bedroom, contemplating the life of a great innovator.

The models of Leonardo's designs were interactive and lively.
We packed a picnic lunch and watched a family of ducks near the stream.
Meanwhile, our little nephew, Everett, was born in the new world.

Chocolat and Chateaux

We only stopped by the impressive exterior of Chambord.
 We visited a local vineyard.
Fougeres-sur-bievre was magical with its horses and fairytale like setting.

The kids took flight in the park on the island.
Kaya holds up her chocolate confection from Max Vauche where we took a tour of the chocolaterie.

I couldn't resist taking the portrait of this little bee.
